Linguistics For Tefl Students

The use of language is one of the defining characteristics of human beings, and it is the basic element for the process of communication, which holds society together. Linguistics studies language. However, it is not confined to the study of a single language, but is concerned with describing the regularities of natural languages and their usage in a universal way. It means that the same analytical devices should be available for the descriptioon of all the languages of the world. It is a field that relates to many other human activities and is therefore interdisciplinary in nature.
