Studies in Ottoman Social and Economic History brings together a selection of Halil İnalcık's most influential essays on the economic, social, and institutional structures of the Ottoman Empire. Halil İnalcık (1916-2016) was a professor of Ottoman history at Ankara University, the University of Chicago and Bilkent University in Ankara. His numerous publications include, most notably, The Ottoman Empire: The Classical Age, 1300-1600 (1973).
